Lending Library
St Mary's, Haverhill now has a small lending library of book on prayer, theology, spirituality and aspects of church life. Many of the books are suitable for those beginning their journey of faith or looking to deepen their understanding of God and his call on our lives.
Can I use the library if I am not a regular member of the congregation? Of course! The library is there for anyone, whether you worship with us regularly or are just dropping in for the first time. All we ask is that you sign the book out in your name, bring the book back for the next person to enjoy, and provide us with a contact number just in case you forget.
What is the charge for using the library? We don't charge for using the library, but donations to church funds are always welcome. This will also enable us to keep the library topped up with new books relevant to what is going on in the church or the world.
Can you recommend books for me to read? Yes, we can help find something suitable to help you, wherever you are on your journey of faith. It could be Bear Grylls's account of his coming to faith, The Greatest Story Ever Told, or C S Lewis's Christian classic, Mere Christianity.
We also often have a featured book which ties in with current themes and issues. We have featured the Church of England's new report, Hope for All Creation, during the season of creationtide, and a guide to Taylor's Bellfoundry which we brought back from Loughborough when visiting to see the casting of two new bells.
Feel free to browse and suggest books for our collection, and make use of this opportunity to explore faith, mission and spirituality afresh.
