Withersfield Churchyard Ecological Plan

28 July 2025 22:00

At Withersfield, we have chosen to dedicate a small area of the churchyard to rewilding, allowing natural plants and vegetation to grow instead of keeping the grass closely cut. This area will still be managed and cultivated to ensure that it remains tidy, respectful and safe, but the main strategy will be to encourage and allow plants and flowers to flourish.

This has a number of benefits:

  • To increase the visual beauty and diversity of the churchyard.
  • To increase bio-diversity in the churchyard and allow less common plants a space to thrive.
  • To attract pollinators and natural fertilisers such as insects and birds.
  • To increase the natural health of the soil in the churchyard.
