New Pastoral Assistants
On Sunday 11th December, the Venerable David Jenkins, Archdeacon of Sudbury, joined us for the 9.30am Eucharist and commissioned four people as new Pastoral Assistants in the benefice, and affirmed the desire of two people to continue in that role.
Pastoral Assistants help with pastoral care and leading worship in the parishes, including leading morning prayer, visiting the sick and taking Holy Communion to the housebound, supporting those who come to us for baptisms, weddings and funerals, and working with children and young people.
We are hugely grateful to Charlotte Kalinsky, Tracey Aubury, Jane Eccleston and Richard Hart for being willing to serve in this capacity. We also acknowledge the contribution that many have made to pastoral care in the community over recent years, including David and Jan Bone whom we re-commissioned as Pastoral Assistants, and others who have laid done this aspect of their ministry.
If you would like to find out more about the ministry of Pastoral Assistants, known elsewhere in the Diocese as Lay Elders, and the training available to those working in this way, have a look at the Diocesan website or speak to one of the ministry team.
