Warm Hubs
Like many churches, we are concerned about the rising cost of living and in particular heating costs. With Haverhill and District Churches Together and in association with Warm Welcome UK, we plan to open some of our churches as a Warm Hub. The idea is to keep it simple and local, flexible to whatever the local church can provide.
River of Life Community Church will be open on a Monday, Haverhill Methodist Church (via their Next Door Café and Church Hall) on a Wednesday, West End Congregational Church on a Thursday and St Mary’s Church on a Friday, as Warm Hubs, usually from 9.30am to 3pm. Occasionally there may be special services at these times but generally we will be open to welcome people. This is a place to come to keep warm and meet other people, where you are not required to spend money - something of a rarity these days. We want to give a warm welcome to anyone, of all faiths and none, who wants to share our space as guests.
Haverhill Library is also open as a warm space on the same terms.
If you are able to be in church after Café Church on an occasional Friday from 1pm to 3pm please let Rev. Wendy know.
If you or someone you know is struggling because of the rising cost of living, there is more information about resources and support available via Suffolk County Council. The church and REACH may also be able to access hardship grants for you, so please speak to us for help.
