Platinum Jubilee of HM the Queen
There are lots of events planned around Haverhill and Withersfield for the platinum jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen, organised by different community groups. The church and churchyard will be decorated for the occasion, with the building lit in red, white and blue and coloured tassels hung in the churchyard trees. These are some of the events we are planning in and around church:
Thursday 2nd June
3.30pm Concert with Veterans Brass
inaugural concert of the new ensemble from Haverhill Silver Band
7.30pm Music and Video Footage in Market Square
9.30pm Lighting of the Jubilee Beacon
including singing of a specially commissioned piece of music by St Mary’s Choir and friends, and royal proclamation by David Hart
Friday 3rd June
10am Community Café
12pm Café Church
outside in the churchyard
12.30pm Picnic in the Churchyard
bring your own food, with other refreshments available and a selection of music through the decades, as well as craft activities for children
4pm Civic Service of Thanksgiving
Saturday 4th June
9.30am Morning Prayer
10am Community Café and Tower Open Day
Sunday 5th June
9.30am Festival All Age Eucharist of Pentecost
followed by cake and refreshments
11.15am Festival Eucharist at Withersfield
1pm Village Street Party on Withersfield Green
6pm Festival Choral Evensong
including Parry’s ‘I Was Glad’, sung at the coronation
